WHAT I SHOULD EXPECT AT CAMP
What will check-in be like on Sunday afternoon?
ALL campers must go through the admitting line to be properly enrolled in a camp session. Admission begins at 3 PM each Sunday. We suggest that you leave all luggage and sleeping bags in vehicles or outside the lodge during this procedure. Each camper should have available their REQUIRED FORMS: CAMPER RELEASE FORM, SIGNED HEALTH FORM, ANY/ALL MEDICATIONS and CAMP STORE MONEY. Campers will receive cabin assignments at this time. It is important that ALL campers complete the entire process. After check-in is completed, please assist your campers to their assigned cabin to unpack and settle in for the week. (Large groups should try to arrive no later than 3:30 PM).
Should a camper bring money to camp? The Camp Stores at West River and Manidokan have items for sale such as: T-Shirts, flashlights, beverages, snacks, postcards, stamps, and caps. A camper should bring no more than $30.00. All camper money is collected at registration the first day of camp and purchases are made from the Camp Store on a credit basis. Any unspent money will be returned to the camper upon departure from camp or donated toward Missions.
Can a camper come late or leave early? We encourage campers to be present for the entire program of camp. We understand that situations arise and allowances can be made to accommodate a camper who must arrive late or leave early. We must have notification in writing from parent/guardian to notify the camp of late arrival or early departure. If someone other than the parent or legal guardian is to pick a camper up, we must have signed, written consent from the parent or legal guardian.
What if a camper gets sick or injured during the week? Each camp has a nurse or health aide who is available 24 hours a day to handle all injuries and illnesses that may occur. All emergencies are handled through local hospitals in consultation with the camper’s parent or guardian.
How can I contact my camper during the week? We encourage you to write a letter and mail to your camper while they are at camp. Camp addresses are below. West River will print emails sent to campers, however campers will not be able to email or return phone calls while they are at camp.
WHAT I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE CAMP
All programs are determined based on grade level campers will be entering in the Fall. For list of programs please click here.
Is financial assistance available? YES! Local Churches may apply for Campership assistance from the Conference Campership Fund. Requests for Camperships are made through the pastor. Any church may apply no matter of denomination. Click here for more information.
How will I know my camper is registered for their requested session? Campers are confirmed when registration form and payment are received. All confirmation will go by email. Please provide a valid and frequently checked email address. Please print legibly the e-mail address to ensure that it is not entered incorrectly and so that the confirmation e-mail does not bounce back when we send it. If no e-mail address is supplied, you will receive written confirmation in the mail.
Is a health form or exam required? A form is required but not an exam; however, if your child will be on medication while at camp there is a REQUIRED PRESCRIPTION FORM that must be completed by your physician. In order to provide the best possible care for our campers, the information on the health form must be filled out completely and accurately. BRING THE HEALTH FORM WITH YOU TO CAMP. Do not mail it ahead of time. Click here for required forms.
What should I pack for my camper? Suggested packing lists are located with required camper forms here.
Are cell phones allowed? We ask campers to leave cell phone, blackberries, i-pods, ds games and similar devices at home so that we can better focus on the process of building relationships with each other. The camp experience is better when campers aren’t responding to text messages, IM-ing friends or returning phone calls. In short, cell phones in the hands of campers create more problems than they intended to solve.
PARENT PAGE
What should I expect Friday at pick up? Each site will have a short closing program at 6pm that we encourage parents to come see. Parents will then be instructed by staff for specific check-out process. Persons picking up campers must be named on the Camper SignOut form.pdf and show photo ID.
