Biking isn’t only great exercise, it’s great fun!!  If you love to ride, here’s a chance to do 300 miles in a week.   You’ll need to be in shape - capable of riding 12-15 mile intervals at least.  Our daily mileage varies between 30 and 50 miles, and we have to ride whether it’s cold and rainy or hot and sticky!  This camp starts on a Saturday at Wesley Seminary in Washington DC.  We’ll load the van and trailer, then head out for Mckeesport, PA.  We’ll be back in Washington in a week . . .by bike!  When we’re not riding, there are tents to set up, and meals to cook.  Some nights we’ll be in campgrounds, others we’ll be

at churches.

If you had fun as a camper, it was probably because you had really great counselors. Camp Counselors are special people, and if you ever thought of being a counselor, Crossroads is the place to start.  Many counselors started as CIT’s (Counselors-In-Training).  CIT’s find themselves at a crossroads – wanting to still enjoy the thrill of summer camp but searching to express their own faith and share it with others. Think you’ve got what it takes?  Sign up for Crossroads, and we can probably find a camp for you to help with this summer!

Creation is full of things to discover - and Discovery Camp gives you a chance to explore and discover.  You might discover a part of God’s creation that you hadn’t noticed before as you hike the Marsh Trail, watch the turtles at the pond, paddle a canoe or ride the motorboat down the river.  You might discover courage you never knew you had as you climb the high wall or swing from 50’ up on the Giant Swing.  But most of all, you’ll discover Jesus’ words and actions are relevant to our lives today as you study, sing, and worship.

This week is loaded with opportunities to serve through projects like painting, minor home repair, yard work, or building handicap ramps.  We’ll break into teams and head out into the local community where there is some real need every day!  There may be other needs at local food banks or assisted living centers.  When the work is finished for the day, we’ll be back at West River with plenty of time to hang with friends, have fun on the water, or swim at the pool.  We’ll wrap up the day after dinner with some great games and worship with great music.
