Most anyone who has been to Manidokan in the last 12 years knows Steve Lane, our Assistant Director, for his ROLE in adventure program leadership AND for his Manidokan dinner ROLLS and great meal planning as our Food Service Director. In the past 3 years he has been featured in the Frederick Magazine for the camps food service.  He is such a gift to us! We’ve also learned that Manidokan is on a parent-created community list which shares which camps are safe places for kids with allergy and dietary needs to attend. Thanks to Steve’s attention to details, Manidokan is highly recommended!

In this next season, Steve will be continuing as our Assistant Director but will move from our Kitchen into the Maintenance and Services role.  Steve has been instrumental in some of our construction projects already and will begin this new role as we roll in 2022! We are excited to see what new vision he brings to this position!

Also beginning in January 2022, we welcome Jason Rhoads into a newly created stand-alone position of Food Service Director. Jason has worked with Steve and others in our kitchen for 3 years during both camp and retreat seasons. He comes with a professional background in grocery store management and customer service. This past year Jason has also been a friendly face serving in the kitchen at Boonsboro Middle School.  He will be leaving that to join us year-round and looks forward to continuing the same healthy meal service and attention to details as he has learned with Steve’s guidance. “There’s nothing that means more than a person with an alternative meal need who comes back to the kitchen and is thankful that we had something that tasted good and was safe and appropriate for their food needs. “It seems so simple, but I guess that’s not the experience people have a lot of places,” shared Jason. We look forward to his leadership!

Finally, Manidokan will also be adding a full-time Program Coordinator to the staff to manage program development, nurture camp partnerships, and play a key role in hospitality.  The search for this position will begin soon and we hope to have someone in place in March.
