Position: Program Coordinator

Salary: $36,000

Manidokan is seeking a Program Coordinator who loves God and working with young people in an outdoor setting. The newest member of our team should be  prepared to take leadership in developing experiences for campers and retreat guests to grow in their faith through community, creation, and adventure.

The Program Coordinator leads all aspects of programming at Manidokan including training and supervising the Program Team and nurturing camp partner relationships. This person directly manages the program schedule and logistics, and must have good communication and organizational skills. As a leader, this person should respond proactively to challenges with creative solutions that prioritize safety and the camper/guest experience.  Often this person leads large group activities so should have good enthusiasm and welcoming presence. They also play key a role in overall hospitality.

Seeking candidates with 2+ years of experience in program leadership for summer camp and retreat activities or equivalent. Ideal candidates have education/experience in ropes course and/or waterfront activity leadership, schedule development, worship planning, and have a commitment to work in and create an inclusive and diverse cultural ministry setting. For Camper Safety candidates must be at least 21 years of age and must pass national and state background checks, drug screening, as well as follow and implement our safe sanctuary policy. This position is a year-round, full-time, salaried, exempt position with benefits.

Full time - Year Round : Food Service Director at West River Center

Position: Food Service Director/Chef

Hours: Full-Time exempt position

Salary: $45-55,000

Description: The Food Service Director provides oversight of the West River food service operations including meal service, staffing, scheduling, menu planning, ordering, staff training and finances. They serve as the head chef for the majority of meals and must ensure the food service operations meet all state and local regulations. Must be able to prepare and serve nutritious and delicious meals for up to 300 people and accommodate special dietary needs.

Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening due to our work with children.  Must be at least 21 years old with three years’ experience in food service management, ideally in a camp and retreat center setting. Must have SERVSAFE certification or equivalent or be willing and able to achieve this within a specified time frame after hire.

The West River Center is a 220-bed camp and retreat center with a mile of waterfront along the West River south of Annapolis, MD. We operate day and residential summer camps and host a wide variety of retreat groups throughout the rest of the year. We are a ministry of the Baltimore-Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Part-Time Harmison Caretaker

Title: Harmison Caretaker

Hours: Part-Time

Salary: $15-18/hr

Description: The Baltimore-Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church is seeking a part-time caretaker for Camp Harmison located outside Berkeley Springs, WV.  Camp Harmison is a 58-acre property featuring two RV and tenting areas and a small retreat house.  The caretaker is responsible for maintaining the grounds and facilities to provide a safe and welcoming environment for guests, arranging contracted work when needed, and greeting guests and accommodating their needs during their stay.  The ideal candidate will have experience in groundskeeping, carpentry, plumbing, electrical or mechanical work, and a pleasant demeanor for offering hospitality to guests.  Hours for this position are heavier during the summer months and lighter during the winter.

This is a very part-time position (averaging 200-300 hours per year).
